Immunizations and Your Child
The last two years have certainly been unprecedented and many kids haven’t gotten the proper vaccines that they need to, which can also increase their risk for serious health problems. It’s important that you are bringing your child back into our Mission and Edinburg, TX, practices to ensure that your child gets all the immunizations they need. Kids will get a variety of vaccines from birth to 18 years old. Many vaccines require multiple doses, so it’s important to plan these immunizations accordingly with our Mission, TX, pediatrician Dr. Husain. The vaccines your child will need include,
- Diphtheria, tetanus and pertussis (DTaP)
- Rotavirus
- Pneumococcal (PCV)
- Haemophilus influenza type b (Hib)
- Polio
- Chickenpox
- Measles, mumps and rubella (MMR)
- Hepatitis A and B
- Meningococcal
- HPV (early adolescence)
- Annual flu shot (beginning at 6 months old)
These vaccines will be given at different times during your child’s life, not all at once. Vaccines begin the moment your baby is born with additional vaccines being given during their well-child visit (this first visit will occur about 3-5 days after birth). Before your child starts school they will also need to first show proof of certain vaccinations.
